XAMNETD is software to demonstrate the concepts of
Mobile Ad-hoc messaging using XMPP. Using this software, networked devices can
be used to form mobile ad-hoc networks and exchange XMPP messages.
Features
- Store-and-Forward technology
- Message receipts
- Support for multiple transport protocols
(IP, Bluetooth™,
Zigbee™)
Getting Started
You will need a Windows 2000/XP/Vista PC or a
Windows Mobile device to use XAMNETD. Your device or PC will also need an
externally addressable IP on port 5224 if you wish to communicate with other
XAMNETD nodes across a WAN. In a non-WAN environment all XAMNETD nodes need to
have addressable IP's and be accessible on port 5224.
To get started using the software please follow
these steps:
- Install the XAMNETD application using the
one of installers available below
- Run amnetd from the Start Menu of your
Windows desktop
- Configure your XMPP messenger application to
use 127.0.0.1 and port 5224 as the XMPP server address
- Choose an arbitrary username and password to
sign in
- By default you will be connected to a
XAMNETD node running on the movsoftware server
