XAMNETD is software to demonstrate the concepts of Mobile Ad-hoc messaging using XMPP. Using this software, networked devices can be used to form mobile ad-hoc networks and exchange XMPP messages.

Features

  • Store-and-Forward technology
  • Message receipts
  • Support for multiple transport protocols (IP, Bluetooth, Zigbee™)

Getting Started

You will need a Windows 2000/XP/Vista PC or a Windows Mobile device to use XAMNETD. Your device or PC will also need an externally addressable IP on port 5224 if you wish to communicate with other XAMNETD nodes across a WAN. In a non-WAN environment all XAMNETD nodes need to have addressable IP's and be accessible on port 5224.

To get started using the software please follow these steps:

  1. Install the XAMNETD application using the one of installers available below
  2. Run amnetd from the Start Menu of your Windows desktop
  3. Configure your XMPP messenger application to use 127.0.0.1 and port 5224 as the XMPP server address
  4. Choose an arbitrary username and password to sign in
  5. By default you will be connected to a XAMNETD node running on the movsoftware server
