mov Software Releases
Jabber-Based Messaging Solution for the Microsoft Smartphone™ Platform
mov
Software, Inc. is pleased to announce the availability of imov Messenger, an
enterprise strength messaging and presence product for the Microsoft
Smartphone™ platform. imov Messenger gives corporate and non-corporate users
the ability to Instant Message and receive news and content on any
Internet enabled Microsoft Smartphone™.
"With this release, we now provide open standard Instant Messaging
products for the entire Windows CE line of products, including the
Microsoft Smartphone™ platform", announces Stephen Pendleton,
President of mov Software. "Corporate and enterprise users can now
depend on a messaging product based on a standardized open
protocol."
With the rapid adoption of Instant Messaging in the corporate realm,
security concerns become paramount. imov Messenger includes strong encryption
of messages via the SSL standard, and also offers SASL authentication.
Since imov Messenger is based in the XMPP (“Jabber”) protocol,
corporations can run their own corporate instant messaging server
internally – without dependence on a server or network owned by a
second party. Connectivity to these proprietary messaging systems, such
as AOL Instant Messenger™, MSN Messenger™, Yahoo! Messenger™ and
ICQ™ are provided at the server side as optional modules.
"In addition to just Instant Messaging, imov Messenger supports the RSS
standard for content delivery,” says Stephen Pendleton. "This is
of interest to enterprise users since now content can be pushed to
Windows CE based mobile users. In addition, the technology built into imov Messenger
includes a seamless online/offline mode where messages can be
composed and put into a queue to be sent to a user even if a live
network connection is not available, which is a common situation for
wireless users. Once a connection becomes available, messages will be
automatically delivered to the connected user."

the requirements of those customers who have been looking for mobile
solutions that can maintain interoperability with their enterprise

VoIP and video users are now able to call each other by simply clicking
on the name of the party. This becomes particularly convenient in
applications such as enterprise voice or video field-support.
“Furthermore, more than two years of constant improvement in the user

platform, support for all major PDA cameras and advanced power
management, make iFon™ the most suitable commercial-grade product in

Winfessor
and mov Software have partnered to develop instant messaging solutions
for the Pocket PC, Smartphone, and Windows CE based mobile and wireless
devices. These new solutions are based on Mobile Edition of the Soapbox
Framework, Winfessor’s NET SDK for XMPP/Jabber development.
"This new
partnership strengthens our ability to deliver solutions to users of
mobile devices", says Stephen Pendleton, President of mov Software.
"The SoapBox
Framework provides the developer an easy to use, solid application for
Jabber development. With the SoapBox Framework the developer has
complete control to build industrial strength Instant Messaging
applications. We wouldn't trust our current mobile messaging products
with any other SDK."
As Instant Messaging
and Presence applications become more important to the corporate world,
a solid foundation is needed to rapidly roll out enterprise scale
solutions. The Winfessor Software Development Kit frees
the developer from the detailed inner workings of the Jabber protocol,
allowing them to remain focused on their own product. Developers new to
XMPP/Jabber can quickly and easily create robust messaging applications
for both desktop and mobile environments.
About
XMPP and Jabber
The Extensible Messaging and

security and internationalization for Internet protocols. In parallel
with the IETF, the Jabber Software Foundation (JSF) continues to develop
application-specific protocols on top of XMPP, and to support the many
companies and open-source projects that have been building out the
